Custom cork gifts, from idea to finished piece.
Start a custom cork gift with what it should do, who will receive it and what it needs to hold or communicate. Then agree the construction, artwork, presentation, quantity and date. An approved sample or proof should define the version that will be made.

Where should a custom cork gift begin?
Begin with the recipient and the purpose. What should the object do after it is received? A new joiner may need useful desk pieces. An event gift may need to be easy to hand over. A keepsake may need a presentation designed around something small and specific.
That decision gives the cork a job. It might become the surface of a diary, a coaster beside a cup, a tray around everyday tools or a box that holds another object. The material, artwork and packaging can then follow a clear brief.
bioQ works from New Delhi on nature-inspired corporate gifts. The cork range gives a starting point across tableware, desk pieces, wellness and gifts with preserved plants. A custom enquiry can begin with one of those formats or a particular presentation need.
How do you choose a cork format?
Choose by the object's use before choosing the decoration. Decide what it needs to hold, how it will be handled and where it will live. Those answers help establish dimensions, thickness and the need for a core or backing.
| Purpose | A starting point | Decide first |
|---|---|---|
| A useful desk gift | Diary, calendar, pen stand or organiser | Available space and what the recipient uses |
| A table setting | Coasters, a holder or a tray | Single pieces or a coordinated set |
| A wellness programme | Cork mat, blocks or therapy ball | Format, construction and the desired combination |
| A small keepsake | Custom cork presentation | The contents and the space they need |
| A botanical gift | Forest frame or preserved-plant desk object | The intended setting and indoor care |
For material questions, read how cork becomes a product and what its properties mean in use. Those guides help separate the look of a surface from the complete construction.
What can a real custom project teach us?
A sustainable energy company asked bioQ for a cork box to hold a pair of cufflinks. We made over 3,000 boxes, each 3 × 3 × 2 inches, with preserved moss inside and a separate place for each cufflink.
The starting point was the contents. The recesses, lining and removable lid belonged to the way the pair would be presented. At that scale, the relationship between the inside and the outside mattered as much as the choice of surface.

The lesson is useful for other small objects too: tell the maker what must fit, what should be visible when the box opens and which details define the presentation. See the full custom-box story.
What should you decide about artwork and branding?
A mark, a message and an illustration place different demands on a surface. Share the actual artwork early, including the colours, fine detail and intended size. The grain of cork is part of what the finished piece will look like.
Discuss a treatment that suits the selected construction. Avoid choosing a method from a different product's photograph and assuming it will give the same result on this one. A sample or proof lets the placement, scale and presentation be reviewed together.
For an existing format, make the contents explicit. For example, a diary shown with a pen should identify whether that pen belongs to the selected version. The approved gift should match the combination you intend to order.
What information makes a useful cork-gift brief?
A clear brief saves guessing. You do not need a finished design to begin, but the following information helps a team work out a suitable proposal.
- Recipient and occasion: who will receive it and why.
- Purpose: what the piece should do, hold or communicate.
- Quantity: the number of gifts or pieces required.
- Budget per gift: the amount the complete presentation needs to fit.
- Needed-by date and destination: when and where the order is required.
- Format or contents: a selected product, a combination or an object that must fit inside.
- Artwork: the logo, message, colours and files available.
- Presentation: packaging, inserts and any separate handover requirements.
If one part is undecided, state it as a choice to explore. “A cork desk gift for a team, with a place for notes” is a workable starting point. A photograph can help explain a direction; the agreed construction and proof should define the product.
What should the approval cover?
Bring the object and its presentation into one review. Confirm the selected version, dimensions, materials, contents, artwork placement and packaging. Where a physical sample is needed to judge the feel or fit, discuss it before agreeing production.
Quantity, timing and the particular construction affect what is feasible. Confirm those terms against the brief. A past project demonstrates what was made for that project; a new order needs its own agreed details.

Once the choices are clear, the gift has a story the recipient can understand: the purpose of the object, the feel of cork and the details chosen for the occasion. For material claims, use evidence that applies to the complete piece; the carbon guide explains why the distinction matters.

Questions about custom cork corporate gifts
Can I start with an idea rather than a finished design?
Yes. Share the recipient, purpose, quantity, budget per gift and date, along with any contents or reference images. bioQ can discuss suitable formats and construction before a proof is agreed.
What can be personalised on a cork gift?
The suitable artwork treatment, placement and presentation depend on the selected product and construction. Share the actual artwork and discuss the options for that piece, then approve the agreed proof.
Can a cork box be designed around a small gift?
A custom presentation can be discussed around the contents, their dimensions and how they should appear when opened. bioQ's cufflink-box case demonstrates one such project, with a preserved-moss interior and separate wells.
