The brief started with the gift inside: a pair of cufflinks. The box needed to present them together, with an interior that belonged to the same natural material story as the outside.

We used cork for the compact square box and preserved moss inside. Two recessed spaces give each cufflink its own place. The removable lid leaves the whole arrangement visible when the box is opened.

At three inches square, the details are close to the hand: the grain of the cork, the green botanical interior and the space around each piece.

Preserved moss brings a botanical texture to the space around the cufflinks. Cork remains visible at the rim and between the two wells, so the box reads as one considered object.

This project shows a direction beyond selecting a box and adding a mark: shape the presentation around the contents, choose the material combination, then carry it through a custom order.
