Paper for pens and pencils
The paper pencils use a recycled-paper barrel around the writing core. The paper pens use kraft paper for their bodies, with cap and detail choices that vary by SKU.
A separate seed capsule
Water-soluble seed ends release their seeds in moist soil. Cap-seed pens dispense seeds for sowing separately. Each seed needs suitable care and growing conditions.

A few things to know.
What is a plantable pen or seed pencil?
It is a writing tool with seeds held in a capsule. On seed pencils and rear-capsule pens, place the water-soluble capsule in moist soil, then lift the writing tool out once the seeds are released. Cap-seed pens dispense their seeds for sowing separately. You can also open a capsule and sow the seeds while continuing to use the pen or pencil.
Are seed pens and seed pencils made from seed paper?
These writing tools hold seeds in a capsule. The paper barrel and the seed capsule are separate parts. Seed paper is another material, with seeds embedded across a sheet; it is used for products such as cards, tags and notebook covers.
Can plantable pens and pencils carry our logo?
Yes. Share your chosen SKU, logo or artwork, quantity and required date. We will confirm the suitable print surface and packaging, then prepare the artwork for your approval.
Which seeds can we choose?
Options include herbs, flowers and vegetables. Sunflower is available for pencils only. The seed guide shows the choices; confirm the seed, writing format and availability for your order. A photographed mix is an example, not a fixed assortment for every pack.
Can we choose loose pieces, individual packs or sets?
Yes. BG01 is a loose seed pencil, AG01 is a single pencil in a flap pack, BG03 is a pack of five pencils and BG02 is a pack of twelve. Pens and mixed writing sets have their own individual, card and tube formats.
Will every seed grow?
Germination depends on the seed variety, storage, soil moisture, temperature and growing conditions. Keep capsules dry until planting and choose a seed suited to the recipient’s location and season.
