Every pencil ends in a seed.
A colour pencil is usually thrown away when it gets too short to sharpen. Each of these ends in a seed capsule, and its name tells you what the seed is, so the stub becomes something to plant.
Each pencil carries a small seed capsule at one end, so young children should colour and plant with an adult.
After colouring
Plant the stub.
When a pencil is too short to use, plant the seed-capsule end in soil, water lightly and keep it in indirect light. See the planting guide.
Growth is possible under suitable conditions, but it is never guaranteed.
For a group
A gift for a whole class.
The mini set suits return-gift bags and class handouts; the full-size set is a gift on its own. Twelve mini pencils also come in the Rangoli Colour Box with four seed-paper cards to colour.

Before you order plantable colour pencils
How do plantable colour pencils work?
Each pencil has a seed capsule at its end. Use it for drawing and colouring as usual; when it is too short to hold, plant the seed-capsule end in soil, water lightly and keep it in indirect light.
Which seeds are in the set?
Each pencil is named after its seed. The mini set in the photographs carries marigold, glory, fenugreek, carrot, coriander, spinach, beans, tomato, okra, basil, sunflower and mustard.
What is the difference between RG08 and RG07?
Both are twelve pre-sharpened pencils in a recycled paper tube. RG08 is full size in an 8-inch tube at ₹153; RG07 is mini in a 5-inch tube at ₹117. Both are at 0% GST.
Are they suitable for young children?
Each pencil carries a small seed capsule, so young children should colour and plant with an adult. We do not state an age grading for these pencils.
Can the tube carry our school or company name?
Ask us with your quantity and artwork; we will check what can be printed on the tube and send a proof.
