A pencil that ends somewhere else
Written down to a stub. Then planted.
BG01 is bioQ's original plantable pencil and still the most direct way to put a sustainability idea into someone's hand. The body is 100% recycled paper rolled around a 2B graphite core, so it sharpens in an ordinary sharpener and writes like a wooden pencil.
The blunt end holds a water-soluble capsule with seeds inside, and the seed variety is printed on the body so the recipient knows what they are planting. When the pencil is too short to use, that end goes into soil. The planting moment is part of the gift; it is not a guarantee of growth.

What is a bioQ plantable seed pencil?
BG01 is a 190 mm × 7.3 mm pencil with a body of 100% recycled paper instead of a wooden barrel, a 2B graphite core, and a water-soluble seed capsule at the non-writing end. It writes and sharpens like an ordinary pencil, and the capsule end can be planted after use.
Which seed varieties are available?
Thirteen: sunflower, onion, mustard, marigold, green chilli, holy basil, okra, tomato, brinjal, spinach, carrot, coriander and fenugreek. The variety is printed on each pencil. Bulk orders are supplied as an assorted mix by default; a single variety or a chosen combination can be requested and is confirmed against availability.
How do you plant the pencil?
Use it until it is too short to hold, then press the seed-capsule end into moist soil in a pot or bed, capsule downwards. Water it and keep the soil moist.
Will the seeds definitely grow?
No. Germination depends on the seed variety, seed condition, storage, soil, water, light, climate and care. bioQ does not publish a germination percentage and treats planting as part of the gift rather than a guaranteed outcome. There is more on this in the plantable gifts guide.
Can the pencils carry our logo?
Yes. The paper body takes printing along its length, so a logo, campaign line or short message can be applied. bioQ works at three customisation levels: standard branding on the existing pencil, adapted colour, artwork or packaging, and developed products that are considered against order value and repeat potential.
Is the seed pencil safe for children?
The paper body is coloured with non-toxic, food-grade colour, and the pencil is widely used in school and children's activity gifting. As with any pencil, younger children should use it with adult supervision.
What is the minimum order and how long does it take?
bioQ accepts corporate orders from a total order value of ₹25,000. Many standard orders can be completed in 5–7 working days; the final lead time depends on quantity, branding and packaging.
How are the pencils packed for bulk orders?
Standard bulk packing is 5,000 pencils per carton of 58 × 40 × 36 cm. Individual packaging, sleeves, tubes or kit assembly can be planned around the brief. If you want the pencils presented as a set, look at the five-piece plantable pencil set (BG03).
