Seed paper – Don’t just throw it, use it and grow it!

With the same face as that of any other paper, seed paper has a unique soul. It is produced without the need to chop trees for raw material. Usually made with cotton rags, the seeds are added during the paper-making process. This embeds the seeds within the paper. Just like our pencils, you may even call it ‘tree-free’ paper. However, the U.S.P. of this material is that when thrown in soil, the paper decomposes in a matter of weeks, while the embedded seeds grow into a plant/plants. Printing and writing on seed paper has improved over the years of experimentation and product development. While some seeds cannot be embedded due to large size, some others allow for thin, usable sheets. This handmade paper is completely free of chemicals, making the seeds actually usable when grown into edible plants.

How to plant seed paper

It is also very easy to sow the seed paper and doesn’t require any special instruments or skills. The extra amount of money paid for this paper’s procurement is more than made up for by the bio-degradable and plantable nature of it after disposal as well as the upgrade in the aesthetics of the paper. Send a seed paper based post card to your loved one and hear from them what we mean!
